When 'sales' don't actually save you money 💰
Nov 26, 2021Did you survive Black Friday / Cyber Monday weekend? Was your inbox like mine for what seemed to be weeks of SALES? Let's be honest no longer is "BLACK FRIDAY" a 1 day sale, it is closer to a month long sale period.
And it is very common to be overwhelmed with the sheer amount of offers that you give up the online browsing and buy nothing (certainly not a bad thing) but it can be a great time to secure a wish list item at a discount (see point 4 below). The trap for many (with any 'sale') is over buying because they don't shop from a list! Then they forget what they have purchased and buy multiples resulting in the frustration of having to return items... if that is even an option.
So what are my top tips when tackling any type of sale?
1) Remember it doesn't matter the amount of money you are saving - you are still spending!
2) Just because it is on sale doesn't mean you need it any more than if it wasn't!
3) It's not a bargain if you don't need it!
4) Sales are a great opportunity to purchase items that have been on your (well thought out and researched) wish list!
5) Consider buying experiences at a discount for Christmas gifts rather than more "stuff" that your loved ones may not want or need!
Remember: When we know better, we can choose better, resulting in doing better.
